I'd like to ride, but I don't have a teammate.  Can I still participate?

"You only get out what you put in."  If you don't have a teammate, then you have not been looking!  The EBCC alone has over 150 members, an extremely active website, and multiple group rides each week, to enable you to find a partner.  One goal of the PVTTS is to encourage bicycle riding.  Therefore, of course, you may participate.

How is the Elapsed Time of the Team TT determined?

Team riders line up at the Start, side by side.  Team riders MUST finish within two bicycle lengths to qualify as a team.  The front wheel of the second rider stops the clock and determines the Elapsed Time.  Remember that drafting provides a 30% reduction in work effort at race speeds.  You need a team member of exactly equal strength ONLY if you intend lead exactly 50% of the time.

May I ride one loop, 8 miles, instead of two loops, 16 miles?

Yes, but times will be recorded only for the scheduled event.  Special exception will be made for younger juniors with prior coordination.

The 16 mile TT was added to train riders for other New England TTs.  However, it was not popular nor well attended.  For 2006, the 16 mile TT is not scheduled.  IF a rider(s) would like to try it, THEN send me a note and I'll add it to the end of another event.

Where do I pin my race number?

2006 ... New for 2006, a race number and ties will be provided for the bicycle frame.  This number is in addition to the jersey number.  Please attach it at the top tube and head tube.  Keep the same number for the entire year!

2005 ... On the right side of your jersey and above your right buttock in order that officials may read it from the right side, road shoulder.  The number is read from bottom to top, left to right, buttock to shoulder.  It is difficult to read race numbers when they pass by at 30mph.  Your effort will help accurate timing. (ref: USCF rulebook, rule 1K4b regarding racing numbers)

When do I start?  Where am I in the starting line queue?

All rides start at 6:00pm.  Riders assemble in the parking lot adjacent to the Town Hall.   A starting order is assigned at this assembly area.  The fastest riders start last.  Riders are encouraged to estimate their own position in  the queue.  Please be prompt in assembling.  Please note that 30 riders are set off in 15 minutes (e.g. 30 second intervals).  Don't be late!

Do you have change for a $100 bill?

No, I don't.  I arrive at the event with the change in my pocket.  It is unlikely that I can change a $20 bill.  Please plan on bringing exact change.

If I arrive late and there are no volunteers to register with, may I ride and register after the event?

No, you may not.  All riders must complete the appropriate USCF registration documents, pay the race fee, and receive a race number before participating.  Race officials and volunteers move to the Start/Finish and Turn-around at 6:00pm.  Therefore, plan on registering before 6:00pm.

When are the results posted?

Informal individual results are provided to individuals immediately after the event and in the parking lot.  Official results are posted here.  My goal is to post within 24 hours.  While I'm improving, I sometimes miss the goal due to my work schedule and/or woeful web skills.  Results are also posted at the EBCC Website.

Are there sanitation facilities available?

A "port-a-pottie" is available behind the school, at the rear of the parking lot, and adjacent to the tennis courts.  If it is locked, please ask the organizer for the key.
